At Sitesquad, we are proud of our core principles. Among them, we believe in the importance of the environment. We all need to look at our behavior and see how we can help the greater good.

Our position is to have a company that does not harm the environment. We’re not a big firm, but we think our actions matter. Take paper, for example. We don’t use a lot of paper as a Web company, but when we do we’re conscious of our choice. We have business cards just like everyone else, just not those super-shiny, high-gloss ones that make absolutely no sense anymore. Pretty simple.

One of the other things we’re really excited about is our use of Joyent as a hosting partner. Joyent uses virtualization, which means we have the horsepower and flexibility of dedicated servers without their energy footprint. Seriously, if every company in the world had to have a dedicated server for their website, we’d all be toast, literally. For us, we couldn’t even think about being an eco-friendly company without incorporating virtualization somewhere into our strategy.

We all enjoy being part of Sitesquad, and revel in the pursuit to build a great company. But if we can’t do it responsibly, improving life instead of mortgaging its future, then what’s the point.
