It seems everytime I check in on the Google Webmaster Blog I find myself reading something to the effect that I just need to create good useful content to achieve betting search rankings. More recently, that's also become the message on the AdWords side with respect to ads and landing pages. How many times, in how many different ways, can they say, "just create good content?"
Here’s the latest example . It starts in Italian, just scroll down for the English.
Google is fighting the good fight, but I can sense the politics in their approach. They make a lot of money from SEO/SEM firms, so they just simply can’t come out and say what they really want to say: “Look, this isn’t that difficult, just follow our guidelines and don’t get trapped into gimmicks from SEO/SEM consultants.” Instead, they simply re-iterate over and over some very basic concepts without biting the many hands which feed them.
This isn’t a rant against SEO/SEM firms. A lot of companies just need people or consultants to help them do the work, as well as the ability to scale and manage a process. But the reality is that a lot of these firms will fade away in the coming years as search and, more importantly, the Web at-large, become part of the DNA in all marketers. We’re not there, yet, so many companies can charge lots of fees to just read the documentation for you.
I’ve said it before. It’s not difficult to “Googlefy” your business, otherwise Google wouldn’t make the money it does.
